PalmSens can be used by other equipment manufacturers.
The printed circuit board is modular in design, which can be modified for specific applications. The instrument is able to control external devices like valves and pumps. The analog instrument can be modified for application of sensorarrays, potentiometric sensors and other devices.

The embedded microprocessor allows development of user-specific firmware. The small size of the PCB (132 mm x 76 mm) does not limit its incorporation in other enclosures. Sensolytics use PalmSens in their SECM (scanning electrochemical microscope) device. Application of the boards in an ESPR (electrochemical surface plasmon resonance) device is also a possibility.
